We had more of a low-key weekend, but that's exactly what we needed.
I think this might have been the slowest weekend we’ve had since we moved. It was so nice to put the errands and house projects on hold and just enjoy the downtime. Here’s our weekend rewind.
Friday
By 3:30 on Friday afternoon, we were starving! So, we went for a super early dinner at Okeechobee Steakhouse. Then, we had gorgeous, rainy evening on the island before taking the long way home.
I wore the softest pink maxi dress to dinner. I think it’s supposed to be a cover-up, but it worked well as a dress for a casual dinner and meandering time.
Saturday
I sat out by the pool for a few hours with my current book until the thunder started. We got cleaned up and went to grab a late lunch out, so we could be in for the evening. First, we tried to get into Benny’s on the Beach, but they had a 1.5-hour wait at 2:30. So we went to Los Pancho’s for margaritas and tacos instead. Our classic margaritas were so good, and we shared chips, queso, and salsa. Tray ordered the impossible meat tacos and loved them. I had the steak quesadilla, and really enjoyed it.
We swung by the fish market to get something to grill Sunday, and then stopped at Trader Joe’s for a few items.
Our evening was cut short by a nasty thunderstorm, so Tray binged the new episodes of Stranger Things and I read a few magazines I picked up at the grocery store.
Sunday
Tray left early for the Everglades on Sunday morning. He just got a new lens and wanted to take some shots. Since I had the first half of the day to myself, I went to the beach. The power açaí bowl from Playa Bowls is so dang good, but eating it on the beach may have made it even better.
The humidity never burned off at the beach, so I made it about three hours before calling it quits. On the way home, I stopped at Nomad Surf Shop to get the Florida Squeezed sunscreen. I just found the sunscreen brand on Instagram and wanted to try it.
I jumped in the pool as soon as I got home to get the humid, sticky feeling off.
When Tray got home, he did a few things around the house and then we left to get an afternoon coffee treat, which led to driving A1A and checking out every public beach parking area.
Maybe because it was later in the afternoon, but the beaches were a mess of people and loud music and people smoking. We stopped at every beach access from Delray to Palm Beach and just wasn’t feeling the vibe of the beach. I was hoping to find a chill, low-key beach area where I could go and sit by myself and not have a huge crowd all around me.
Our go-to Sunday dinner lately has been grilled fish with a light pasta that I toss in some olive oil and a splash of lemon juice and add a dash of garlic salt.
4 Things I’m Loving This Week
- Pink Maxi Dress: This is supposed to be a cover up, but I wore it for a casual evening out Friday and I love it. The gauze-like material is really soft and comfortable. I also like that the dress has short sleeves, and the buttons help elongate the body. The dress is missing pockets though—that’s the only negative.
- Hair Scarf: I didn’t want to mess with a hat at the beach on Sunday, so I tied this scarf like a head band to protect my scalp instead. I got so many compliments, too!
- Yoga Mat: I needed to get a super thick yoga mat to use at the house, and this one is so good. It’s a full inch thick of memory foam, and is great for outside workouts.
- Makeup Brush Set: I recently upgraded some of my makeup brushes with this set. Macy’s has them on sale right now, too.
