I have always loved lipstick. Maybe it's because lipstick was the first piece of makeup I was introduced to as a child. Dance recitals always required a touch of blush and a major lipstick moment, am I right?
Since those early years, my favorite lipsticks have evolved. I remember Clinique’s Black Cherry lipstick being the coolest shade ever during my middle school years. High school me was all about MAC Lipglass. And college me began to dabble in the bright reds and pinks of the lipstick world.
If you peeked inside my purse, you’d find a minimum of two lip products—maybe three. I never go anywhere without my favorite lipstick of all time. But I’ll also keep a lipgloss or balm on hand, too.
Since I love trying lip products, I always have new ones in rotation. However, these are my favorite lipsticks and other lip products of all time.
Favorite Lipsticks
Rouge Hermès Satin Lipstick: I cannot go anywhere without shade 16 Beige Tadelakt. It is the absolute best lipstick shade for my skin tone that I have ever worn, and my ultimate favorite lipstick. The Hermes satin lipstick formula is one of my favorites because it falls between a matte and a shine. The product isn’t drying and it doesn’t enhance any lines you may have in your lips. It’s not marketed as a long-wear lip product, but I can go a few hours without having to reapply—typically only having to reapply after a meal. I have four of the Beige Tadelakt tubes right now. One is in my bathroom, another in my purse, and two backups stored away. I recently purchased Corail Flamingo shade 36, and I also love the pop of coral.
Chanel Rouge Allure Refillable Lipstick: I recently tried shade 822, which is the perfect fall, berry color. I love the high color payoff of this lipstick and the formula is a luxe, creamy feel on your lips. This lipstick has a bit of a shine, but not too much. I also love that you can just purchase the refill when you need a fresh tube of lipstick—or if you want to add another shade to your collection you can still purchase the refill and swap it into the black case.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick: When I want a matte nude lip color, I always come back to Charlotte Tilbury’s matte lipstick in Pillow Talk. It’s one of those “your lips but better” shades that works on so many skin tones. Plus, a deeper version, Pillow Talk medium, was released and it’s beautiful also. The matching lip liner pencil helps create a defined, full lip shape.
Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim Lipstick: The super slim size of this lipstick makes application (and reapplication) easy. This is another satin finish lipstick, which is clearly my favorite formula since I own so many. When I want a bold, red lip I reach for the shade I Desire, which might be the best red-orange lipstick ever!
Favorite Lip Liners
Chanel Le Crayon: Matching lip liners to lipstick is hard the bolder your lip color gets, but this clear lip liner prevents lipstick bleed around the mouth. This lip liner keeps a clean line, but it won’t provide the appearance of fuller lips.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat: The shade range has really expanded, but I love the pillow talk shade most. It works well with the Charlotte Tilbury matte revolution lipstick and lustre lip, and it works well with the NYX butter gloss.
Favorite Lipgloss
Tarte Maracuja Lip Balm: This lip product is buttery and hydrating like a balm, but also has a nice shine like a gloss. I have the “grapefruit” shade and wear it all the time for work from home life and when I’m out running errands.
Merit Lip Oil: This lip oil is the perfect mix of adding a pop of color and also moisturizing your lips. I have the “Marrakech” shade and apply it when I need moisture and some color.
Charlotte Tilbury Lustre Lip: I have this lip gloss in “Pillow Talk” and love the “your lips but better” shade. The formula is a little thicker than some glosses, but it’s not sticky or messy. This lip gloss also pairs so well with the Charlotte Tilbury lip liner mentioned above
Dior Lip Oil: Currently trending on TikTok, this lip oil is such a treat. If you need to treat dry lips but don’t want to add color, this is a great product to keep on hand all day and even to apply before bed. I have this in “Raspberry.”
NYX Butter Gloss: This is hands-down the best drugstore lip gloss on the market. I pick up a few at a time at Target when I get low. My go-to shade is the “Creme Brûlée,” because it’s a nice, subtle wash of pink.
Favorite Lip Treatments
Laneige Lip Mask: If you live somewhere that’s dry or winter is coming your way, this lip mask is a must. I used this religiously last winter, and I never had a bad case of chapped lips. I still apply nightly now that we live in Florida, and it leaves my lips so soft and moisturized.
Tatcha Lip Jelly: Similar to the Laneige lip mask, this lip jelly from Tatcha is so good! I carry this on when I fly because it’s keeps my lips moisturized and soft during long flights.
Lush Lip Scrub: Whenever my lips are flaky, I use a little bit of this lip scrub to polish and my lips never feel better. I love the mint julep scent the best.
Grande Lip Plumper: I picked up the three-pack trial size of the brow, lash, and lip serums a while back, and I was pleasantly surprised by the lip-plumping serum. My lips weren’t on fire and no tingling at all, just plump lips without discomfort!
