Guide to Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is one of our favorite cities. The narrow streets, the oak trees, all the water views and the most beautiful homes, the city and surrounding areas are honestly some of the prettiest I’ve seen. The food scene is beyond amazing, too. We honestly struggle to decide where to eat because we love so many places.

In the past year, we’ve spent several months at a time in the Charleston area since it’s only a 4-ish hour drive from our home in Asheville, North Carolina.

If I planned a three-day itinerary, here’s what I’d do:

Friday Afternoon

  1. Check in to your hotel. (We love Post House Inn.)
  2. Shop King Street for a bit. My favorite shops are LAKE, Candlefish, Hampden, Amanda Lindroth, Old Whaling Co., and Blue Bicycle Books.
  3. Grab a glass of wine and a charcuterie at Bin 152.
  4. Dinner at Leon’s Oyster and Poultry.

Saturday

  1. Breakfast at Miller’s All Day
  2. Coffee from Brown Fox
  3. Spend the afternoon on Sullivan’s Island beaches
  4. Grab lunch and froze from The Co-op
  5. Get cleaned up and grab a drink at Little Palm
  6. Dinner at Home Team BBQ (the brisket is so good!)
  7. Snag dessert from Carmella’s Dessert Bar (the birthday cake and red velvet cake are our favorites)

Sunday

  1. Brunch at Husk
  2. Walk the waterfront and see the famous Pineapple Fountain, then down to Rainbow Row and the Battery
  3. Snag a late lunch at Hyman’s
  4. Take a scenic boat tour
  5. Get a coffee pick-me-up at Clerks Coffee
  6. Grab something to eat at Little Jack’s Tavern on your way out of town
